Well, here we are, about 10 AM on June 5th, and something amazing is happening here in the great Pacific North West. After three solid weeks of dreary, dismal weather, the sun has finally come out, and not a moment too soon. Zero Ground Clearance is hosting their 2nd annual Washington Hangout down in Sumner today, so the warm weather is a blessing.
We hopped in the freshly dropped Toyota T100 and headed out. It’s been a long time since I rolled a static dropped truck for any length of time, and let me tell you, I-5 is no fun with no suspension. The ZGC Hangout had better be worth the bruises on my kidneys. We rolled into the hangout spot, and were pleasantly surprised, the NW minitruckers had not let us down. A lot of familiar faces were there, along with some new trucks on the scene. Front and center, Minitruck Mayhem had their booth setup, slinging NW shirts and DVD’s, and clubs and local builders were out in force. Guys from Freaks of Nature, Clearance Issues, 253 Fab, Street Issue Customs and Rock Bottom rolled out to help kick off the NW show season.
All in all, about 65 cars and trucks rolled in throughout the day, ranging from full pro street cars to the lowest of the low, and sky-high 4x4’s. Remember, this wasn’t a full out show, just a meet, so it was good to see a decent turn out. Special thanks go out to the Zero Ground Clearance guys, and Andy Pruyne for hosting the event. We’ll be back next year, and hope for an even bigger turnout!!
